Dukan Diet

The Dukan Diet is one of the most popular diet plans in France. This high-protein, low-fat eating plan has been credited with swift weight loss for those who find dieting a struggle. It is devised by the French doctor Pierre Dukan more than 10 years ago as a treatment for obese people. It is a four-phase, high-protein, low-calorie diet plan that has no weighing of foods or counting of calories. You will be able to eat as much as you want, at any time of the day – just make sure that what you are eating is lean protein.

The Four Phases of the Dukan Diet

1. The Attack Phase

- eat all you want as long as it is lean and low-fat protein

- drink a lot of water

- coffee, tea, and sodas are okay as long as they are zero calories and zero fat

- add some oat bran (1.5 tablespoons per day) to the mix

- 20-minute walk every day

2. The Cruise Phase

- unlimited amounts of 28 non-starchy vegetables every other day along with a core diet of unlimited lean/low-fat protein and 2 tablespoons of oat bran

- continue the oat bran (2 tablespoons per day), the water and the walking (which increases to 30 minutes a day, briskly

3. The Consolidation Phase

- phase starts once you reach your target weight

- allows unlimited protein (including pork and lamb) and vegetables every day, along  with one piece of low-sugar fruit, 2 slices of whole-grain bread, and 1 portion of hard cheese

4. The Stabilization Phase

- maintenance portion of the plan

- one day a week, follow the same all-protein diet as in Phase 1; eat 3 tablespoons of oat bran a day; and walk for 20 minutes daily and never take elevators or escalators

The Dukan Diet is a good way to lose those unwanted fats and get back to your old self. But still, the best answer for someone wanting to lose weight is to continue eating a balanced diet, but in sensible quantities.
