Weight Loss Help
For many of us, getting the ideal body weight is somewhat of an obsession. I actually have friends who post their ideal weight on the wall of their rooms so that they can torture themselves day after day, obsessing about it endlessly. Don’t get me wrong – I recognize the importance of health. I myself used to be quite overweight. bUt now that I have found a successful diet and exercise plan and lost some of the weight, I definitely feel a lot better about myself. Nonetheless, I think that it is important to start off slow. Obsessing about your ideal weight or your body mass index every day is just going to get you down. Instead, simply start eating healthy, exercise regularly, and try to feel good about yourself. Sooner or later, you will reach your weight loss goals.
I do not mean to state that ideal weight is pointless. Whether you are taking weight loss pills, having an all-natural vegetarian diet, or using some trendy diet plan, you definely need a goal to reach for. It is nice to be able to gauge your progress – especially when you’re going on a long weight loss program. Nevertheless, it is all too easy to get crical about ourselves. Many people internalize self-hatred about their body image and appearance. This only contributes to neurotic eating, poor health habits, and an unhealthy cycle of binging and purging. Sometimes, the first step to a healthy body is a healthy mind.
In my mind, the time to think of ideal weight is when you are starting to approach an unhealthy body. It isn’t hard to get an ideal weight chart and precisely calculate how much you should lose. The problem is that doing too early will do more harm than good. Don’t start counting the ounces when you still have 30 pounds to go. After all, if you had 20 years in prison would you be counting the minutes?
I firmly believe that, through diet and exercise, everyone can reach their ideal weight. Ideal body weights are different for different people, and isn’t always easy to quantify as a precise number, but sometimes you can just tell when you’re getting there. You feel healthier, happier, and more energetic. You feel attractive to those around you, and you start getting noticed. These are some of the surest signs that you are doing things right. Just trust yourself and everything will work.Slow and steady surely wins the race!
